Peter Cornforth, was one of the Pickleball Group Leaders, talking about Pickleball, how it's played and its popularity on Forest FM our local radio station.

Pickleball Has Come To Verwood

Originating in the 1960’s in the US, Pickleball has grown in popularity in the UK and around the world. It is easy to learn and appeals to a wide range of ages and abilities. Like all regular exercise it offers many health benefits with a lower risk of injury compared to other racquet sports.

Pickleball can have 2 or 4 players and is played indoors or outdoors. It is played with paddles similar to table tennis bats and a perforated plastic ball. The court is like a badminton court but with a lower net, set at hip level.

Do not worry if you are a beginner. We are a friendly group happy to help you to get started. Anyone who has played tennis or badminton before will take to it very quickly. We have professional coaching sessions organised for those who want to improve.

Come and try it. If you are not sure if you will like it, you are welcome to come along for a trial session.
